Garden gym – Achieving your fitness goals
February has arrived; we can all breathe a sigh of relief that January is finally over!
The first month of the year always seems to drag on. We all tend to start the year with good intentions and resolutions, but hands up how many of us last past January 31st
We love setting ourselves personnel goals at the beginning of a new year. You may decide to stop drinking, take up yoga or do more exercise by joining a gym.
Whatever challenge you embarked upon with vigour as the new year bells chimed, may be feeling slightly less inspired one very long month in.
It will not be a surprise to anyone that one of the of the most popular resolutions is to join a gym and get fit. We all know that exercise is good for you, but with our busy life schedules, cost of membership, finding the time and enthusiasm to commit to a regular workout is becoming increasingly more difficult.
So, how can you benefit from turning that unused corner of your garden into your very own, personal garden gym.
There are many ways to create a gym in your home. You can clear out an already cluttered garage and set up a bench and weights, or put an exercise bike in your spare room, but what often happens is the clutter from the garage needs to go back in to the garage (or take up space elsewhere) or the spare rooms needs to once again be made welcoming for your visiting family.
What you really need is a separate, additional room. A room dedicated to you achieving your fitness goals. To traditionally extend your home can be intrusive to your home, as well as be expensive and take a long time to complete, but a garden room can often be built within weeks and without planning permission.
Why invest in a garden gym…
1. No more fees
Instead of committing to an annual contract and monthly gym fee, your money will be invested into creating a permanent, insulated, additional room, where its usage could change as you and your family’s needs change. A versatile detached extension. Typically adding any high quality additional living space will ultimately add value to your property.
After the initial cost of your garden gym, you’ll have then have a lifetime to enjoy it without any additional payments.
2. Encourage other members of the family to get fit
In our busy lives, it’s very easy to neglect the habits that keep us healthy and feeling great. When we’re super busy, we tend to act on autopilot, make excuses, avoid what’s important. Investing in a garden gym is in turn investing in the health of your family. A safe space where you can educate the younger members of your family on the importance of making exercise a regular part of everyday life.
3. Cut the commute and the rush
Rushing to get from the office to the gym then back home to the family is enough to make anxiety levels soar. To be able to exercise at a time that suits you most and not be restrained by gym opening hours is a win win! To be able to save on both time and fuel is another great reason to add a garden gym to your property.
4. Privacy
Self-consciousness in a public gym can be inhibiting and discouraging. For most people a workout is when you least want an audience! Being able to have a good work out in your own space without worrying about how you look may allow you to have a much more rewarding exercise regime.
5. No more crowds – the equipment is yours to use!
Gyms can get busy, especially the first part of the year when everyone is trying to be healthy! We have all had to wait for your favourite machine or set of weights. In your own garden gym, there are no crowds, no waiting around or feeling like you need give up the equipment to let someone else use it. You get to enjoy your workout and spend as much time as you like doing what you enjoy and benefit from most.
No more excuses!
Your gym is literally on your doorstep, so the list of excuses is out the door!
